Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and social service. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. On the football field, he competed along with three brothers in Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the leading lineman of the nation. Oklahoma won two National Championships throughout his time as a starter. He was awarded his third scholarship. He was acknowledged as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the course of his college. He returned to Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for nine seasons and made three times all-pro. The business venture he started began. In 1988, he was appointed an account manager for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of the most outstanding American young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when was playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he led the team. He joined as a director at University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988 his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into both it into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
